(GB) Strum With Your Foot: Ben Heck’s Guitar Hero Pedal Controller

Posted by on May 9, 2008

Ben Heck is up to some new tricks again, putting the metal to the pedal this time. The gaming hardware mod designer has created a Guitar Hero mod, the Guitar Hero pedal controller. The pedal controller places the strum and whammy bar from the Guitar Hero controller on your foot.

“What you do is use your foot and click your toes up or down to strum or navigate menus,” said Ben Heck, “To perform a whammy you lift up your heel - the spring loaded plate is shown in the up (full whammy) position in the photo, but normally your heel compresses it (no whammy).”

It might give your toes a workout, but it does let you play with one hand free. See a video from Ben Heck here for a demo of the Guitar Hero pedal controller in action (via a nice music video).
